We are looking at a Dodge TXT shaft mount gearbox for an telescoper stack conveyor that is moving gravel at 200 fpm. The gearbox is making a very loud squealing sound. Has anybody had this issue before? Any suggestions on what it might be?
Hi Jignesh,
I have come across a similar issue with a Nord gearbox in my facility. We have a long belt conveyor moving recycling materials across our plant and the gearbox started making this squealing noise. I called an expert in to take a look at it and it turns out we had neglected to change or even top up the oil in the gearbox and as a result the oil was not sufficiently lubricating all the gears and as a result parts of the gears were mating direct surface to surface with no lubrication in between. We flushed the gearbox and put in new oil at the correct level per the manufacturer and also bought an exact spare as we do not know the extent of the damage we had caused. You should definitely look to see if you have sufficient oil in the geatbox. – Hope this help you out
