Scott please make sure you specifically ask for Explosion Proof I once ordered a gearmotor from Nord and they sent me a Div2 hazardous duty but was not zoned for Div1 explosion proof. If you are buying a gearmotor make sure they are outsourcing the motor part because I don’t think they make True Div1 explosion proof motors themselves. Itshould be a Teco Westinghouse or WEG or Baldor etc.
Hi Scott, Yes you can but please be very careful when you select motors for such environments. A fully explosion proof motor is designed for environments where there is explosive gas in the air constantly.
