HI any one know what electric motor service factor means?
I have a Techtop 5HP motor and it says S.F. 1.15, what does that mean?
Troy,
The service factor of a motor refers to the motors ability handle loads. So if the service factor is 1.0 it means the motor can only handle the rated HP. But in you case the motor Is 5 HP and the SF is 1.15 this means that the motor can handle a load 15% greater than it’s rated HP. So the motor can actually handle 5.75 HP.
